Prevention United is again running training sessions on Mental Health Promotion, free for public library staff.

The 2nd session – Introduction to Mental Health Promotion is a repeat of the sessions run last year. If you attended one of those sessions you do not need to attend it again. The other two sessions are additional complementary sessions.

Attendance is live only – due to the interactive nature of the sessions, they are not able to be recorded.

Community Engagement in Mental Health Promotion – Friday 22nd May, 1.00-4.00pm

This training equips participants with the tools and frameworks to activelyengage communities in the design, delivery, and evaluation of effective mental health promotion initiatives.

  • Understand key principles to ensure safe and meaningful community engagement
  • Learn how to determine the most appropriate level of engagement
  • Explore best practice methods for community engagement, including a step-by-step guide
  • Gain insight into the unique considerations for community engagement in mental health promotion

Introduction to Mental Health Promotion – Tuesday 9th June, 1.30-4.30pm

A repeat of sessions run last year, this session provides participants with the basic language and frameworks needed to confidently support mental health promotion initiatives in any community setting.  You will:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of mental health and the factors that influence it
  • Explore mental health promotion and why it is so important
  • Learn about ‘what works” to promote mental wellbeing & prevent mental health conditions
  • Develop practical strategies to integrate this knowledge into your work

Evaluation in Mental Health Promotion – Wednesday 17th June, 1.30-4.30pm

Participants explore MHP as an emerging discipline and apply its principles to designing evaluations, developing Theories of Change and mapping Program Logics. The training equips learners to select appropriate evaluation tools and translate evidence into practice.

  • Analyse the importance of MHP as an emerging area of research
  • Apply the core principles of MHP to developing an evaluation methodology
  • Apply MHP principles to developing a Theory of Change and a Program Logic
  • Compare and select appropriate evaluation tools to support the evaluation of MHP initiatives
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to disseminate evidence and elevate the impact of MHP
