Midsumma Pride March is a signature event of the Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival, an annual celebration of queer arts and culture. The Pride March attracts 7,400 marchers, who take to the streets down Fitzroy Street in St Kilda each year; over 45,000 people line the streets and balconies along the march route to show their support – making this the best-attended Pride March in Victoria.

This year public library staff across Victoria are invited to join in and march behind the Libraries Change Lives special edition Pride banner to celebrate Library Pride at the Midsumma Pride March on Sunday 6 February 2022.

We will all be marching together under the banner of ‘Libraries Change Lives’ to show our support for the LGBTQAI communities and demonstrating that libraries are a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all.

There is a March safety briefing on Wednesday 2 February that will have important information for all those attending. We will pass all of this information to all who register with us to attend.

If you would like to join and march with us, please send an email to either Jonathan Salmon or Rubie Bridie.
