Films at the Bundy will be hosting a special screening of How To Build A Library, a Kenyan documentary about two women and their attempt to transform what used to be a whites-only library into a vibrant cultural hub. Along the way, they must navigate local politics, raise millions for the rebuild, and confront the lingering ghosts of Kenya’s colonial past. How to Build a Library is a captivating tale of perseverance in the face of adversities that captures why we need libraries now more than ever.
Join us at The Bundy Hall, between Sale and Maffra, on Wednesday 23 September – arrive 7pm for a prompt 7.30 start. BYO drinks and dinner, or help yourself to snacks and a cuppa (gold coin donation).
Films at the Bundy is a membership-based film society. People are welcome to come along to their first film for free as a taster, but will need to join our society to continue coming to screenings.
We also host a Coffee and Film Chat morning at 10am on the Saturday after the screening, at The Food Store on Carpenter Street in Maffra, to get a bit deeper into the themes, contexts and stylistic decisions of the film. All are welcome!
