Brimbank Libraries is pleased to announce the program for the 2022 Brimbank Writers & Readers Festival, Thursday 17 – Saturday 26 March.

The ten day festival is packed with author talks, panel discussions, interviews, workshops, performance and storytelling events that celebrate creativity, diversity, showcases community voices and promote lifelong learning

The opening event features three-time AFL premiership player Bachar Houli. Famously known as the first devout Muslim to play football at the highest level, Bachar has backed up his on-field performance with his inspiring international award-winning leadership and community work to promote social cohesion, understanding, tolerance and inclusion.

Other events include Proud Stories in Sunshine Youth LGBTIQA+ storytelling workshop and showcase hosted by award winning authors Alison Evans and Nevo Zisin- author of The Pronoun Lowdown.

Don’t miss our panel discussion Growing Up Disabled in Australia. Hosted by author Carly Findlay, the book explores the diverse experiences of over 40 writers with a disability or chronic illness. Contributors Sam Drummond, C.B. Mako and Olivia Muscat will speak with Carly Findlay OAM about their stories.

Other highlights include An evening with William McInnes as he shares stories from his colourful and creative career, and our Social Slam event which aims to inspire you through poetry and spoken word about issues which are impacting us all.

Events have been planned for all ages, including a Choose your own adventure workshop for kids, story strolls showcasing community stories around Brimbank, as well as outdoor live music and performance

All events at no charge to attend.
