ALIAVic is delighted to invite you to our inaugural Book Week Soirée. Join us on the 22nd of August at the State Library of Victoria in the Isabella Fraser Room to not only celebrate the 80th anniversary of Children’s Book Week, but also the presentation of the very first Victorian Library and Information Award (VLIA). Click here to learn more about the amazing shortlist and the award. Special congratulations to Emily Johns from City of Melbourne Libraries, the public libraries’ candidate on the shortlist.

The Soirée itself will be an evening of bookish delights, where you can unleash your creativity dressing up as a favourite book character. There will be drinks and canapes and a costume catwalk with prizes for best overall, best book likeness and most innovative and costumes.

Come along and celebrate the amazing people who make up Victoria’s library land, and the wonderful book characters that have meant so much to us all professional and personally. It’s going to be the Victorian library night of the year, so don’t forget to book (pun intended) your tickets before they run out. Deadline for bookings is Tues 19 August.é
