This position includes evening and weekend shifts. 

About the Role

Yarra Plenty Regional Library (YPRL) is seeking a permanent part-time Technician, Reading, Learning & Community, currently based at Watsonia Library and Ivanhoe Library & Cultural Hub, however you may be required to work across other YPRL locations when needed.

This position includes Senior Officer in Charge responsibilities and the delivery of Storytime sessions. Extensive supervisory experience is essential for this position.

As a Technician, you will provide high-quality customer service to library members and the wider community while promoting reading, learning and community engagement. You will be an approachable and effective communicator, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers of all ages, particularly children and their families. If you have experience delivering programs or activities and are passionate about fostering a love of reading, we'd love to hear from you.

About You

In this role, you will:

Respond to a broad range of customer enquiries by utilising library collections, resources, products and services.

Provide high-quality Readers' Advisory services, demonstrating strong reading knowledge and an understanding of customers' interests and needs.

Perform a range of library operations that support customers in a self-service environment, including circulation, collection maintenance and other branch duties.

Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to enquiries, supporting promotional activities, coordinating book groups, assisting with events and displays, and contributing to public participation initiatives that encourage library membership and usage.

Contribute to the achievement of branch and regional objectives by actively participating in planning, team meetings and initiatives that strengthen the library's role as a welcoming place for reading, learning and community connection.
