About the Role

We are seeking a positive and highly organised librarian with a strong customer focus, to join our team of staff committed to providing high quality library experiences to the Boroondara community. If you're passionate about providing frontline customer service and supporting community members who are unable to visit the library due to age, frailty, or disability, this role could be a great fit for you.

This is a permanent full-time role (35 hours per week) primarily based at Camberwell Library. Please note regular weekend and evening work is required.

A little bit about the role

Our six libraries are in demand with over 2 million loans, 970,000 visits, 38,000 attendees at programs and 81,000 enquiries in 2024/25.

Along with providing the highest possible standard of frontline and circulation support in person, by telephone and in writing to the Boroondara community, as Home Library Service Librarian you will be responsible for:

The selection of materials and coordination of deliveries to specific materials to housebound individuals;
The selection and acquisition of materials for the large print and talking book collections; and
Volunteer management.

A little bit about you

To be successful in this role you will have:

Well-developed and positive interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with both staff and public.
Experience working in a library, preferably in a public library.
Ability to liaise effectively and sensitively with a range of individuals, agencies and community organisations.
Ability to train staff and members of the public in the use of information tools and technology.
Ability to supervise, organise and direct other staff in a customer service and operational setting and volunteers.
Experience in frontline customer service; and
Proven versatility and flexibility to manage time and plan work according to demand.
