Recognising the vital role that libraries play in helping members of their communities to navigate the digital world, the Australian Federal Government through Services Australia has contacted Public Libraries Victoria to advise of changes coming to myGov, effective Mon 5 September, and asked us to pass on this information to libraries.

Services Australia is also offering an online briefing on the new look myGov site at 9.30AM Monday 22 August 2022 and an opportunity for Q&A. The meeting link will be forwarded to library managers.

The myGov upgrade will make it more user-friendly, offer personalised information about government services and have a fresh, modern look. New features, information and improvements will continue to be added over time.

While it may look different, there’s a lot you’ll find familiar. You’ll still find myGov at the same web address. Patrons will use the same sign in details and all the services they have linked in their myGov account will still be there.

Library staff are invited to explore the changes and learn more About myGov Beta. You can do everything you currently do in myGov using myGov Beta – it’s just as safe and secure.

The myGov eKit will help you to inform people in your community about changes to myGov this year. The eKit contains this ‘myGov is changing soon’ themed information:

  • A4 factsheet
  • 2 posters
  • PowerPoint presentation
  • A4 translated factsheets in 11 languages
  • Radio audio files and transcripts in 10 languages.

On 5 Sept, the resources will be updated to say ‘myGov has changed’.

You can download the myGov community resources today so you can let people know about the changes, and reassure them that this is legitimate and safe.
