With rapidly evolving AI tools changing the information landscape around us – what are the challenges and possibilities for library and information services?

ALIA is excited to be partnering with State Library Victoria to host a Library and Information Week symposium that delves into the pressing question of the day: where’s the source?

We’re looking forward to hearing from Dr Elizabeth Tait (Course Director and Senior Lecturer in Information Studies at Charles Sturt University), Paula Bray (Chief Digital Officer, State Library Victoria) and Dr Amanda Lawrence (RMIT research fellow and President of Wikimedia Australia), who will explore the latest AI tools and advances, and their role in the library sector.

  • In Prototyping the Library with AI we’ll discuss how advances in technology are changing the way we think about and use AI in libraries, including how we create content and experiences, and how the latest innovations and trends will impact cultural heritage.
  • Whose Source? Information opportunities past traditional publishing will explore some of the non-traditional but essential information sources in the modern library, including First Nations knowledge and Wikipedia, and how we can make sure libraries are leading changes rather than playing catch-up.

We’d love you to spread the word by sharing with your networks, and I look forward to seeing you there!
