Barrett Reid Scholarship – Info Sessions: 29 & 30 April, 1 May @ 1pm

Victorian public libraries are stepping up as sector leaders in sustainability—and the latest Barrett Reid Scholarship project shows just how powerful that leadership can be.

Jessica Anderson (Goulburn Valley Libraries) and Rachel D’Arcy (Brimbank Libraries), recipients of the 2023 Barrett Reid Scholarship, have developed a bold new framework to help libraries embed sustainability across operations, programs, and partnerships.

Their report, Public Libraries and Sustainability in Victoria, introduces a set of practical quality standards—designed for our unique public library context—and highlights examples of innovation already transforming libraries around the state.

From First Nations-led initiatives to climate-responsive service design, their work positions libraries as key contributors to sustainable, inclusive futures.
