This is your last chance to complete the Library Workplace Safety Survey.

This anonymous online survey explores workplace violence and aggression in public and academic libraries, as part of a project conducted by Associate Professor Jane Garner on behalf of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), the Australian Public Library Alliance (APLA) and the Council of Australasian University Librarians (CAUL).

Here is the survey link for front-of-house and customer service, user-facing staff to complete.

The survey will take around 20 minutes. You will not be asked to identify yourself or your library. All the information you include will be completely anonymous. Please note that this survey will ask you about specific incidences of workplace violence and aggression and this may cause you distress. It may be upsetting for you to recall situations at work that you have experienced in the past. If you feel you would rather not take part in the survey for this or any other reason, please disregard this invitation.

The goal of the survey is to develop an understanding of how public and academic libraries manage occupational violence and aggression incidents, the frequency and nature of these events, and the impact on library workers of these incidents.

The surveys are the first step in a project to understand your experiences of workplace violence and aggression. Once we understand this, we will be able to establish workplace practices to look after you and your staff better.

The research results will also support advocacy efforts across the sector.
