Library Band 4 Technician Salary commencing at $42.05 per hour, plus 12% superannuation

About the Role

The Opportunity

Moonee Valley Libraries is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Reader Services and Program Support Technician to play a key role in delivering engaging programs and supporting collection management activities. Working within our Arts, Culture and Place group, this position is part of a professional and friendly team committed to providing excellent library experiences. You’ll support the delivery of adult programs and events, maintain and develop library collections, and help ensure our library spaces are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.

Key Responsibilities

– Provide proactive, high-quality customer service across multiple library locations.
– Assist library users with a range of technologies, including computers, eResources, mobile devices, and online platforms.
– Supervise staff when rostered as the senior officer on duty, promoting teamwork and operational efficiency.
– Support collection management activities such as weeding, cataloguing, and promotion of adult materials.
– Help plan, deliver, and evaluate adult programs and literary events.
– Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all community members.

Skills & Experience

You will hold a Diploma of Library and Information Services eligible for Library Technician membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and bring proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service ideally within a public library setting. Your strong IT skills enable you to confidently troubleshoot computer and mobile technologies, support users in digital literacy, and work effectively in an online environment. You’ll be highly organised, capable of supervising staff and managing your workload in a busy service environment. Excellent communication skills, collaboration skills and an enthusiasm for community connection are essential.
