Congratulations to Alice Zeniter and Frank Wynne!

On 23 May Dublin City Council announced Alice Zeniter and Frank Wynne as the winners of the 2022 DUBLIN Literary Award. Keen eyes might recognize Frank as a previous winner from 2002 as translator of Atomized by Michel Houellebecq. The Art of Losing is the 10th novel in translation to win this Award.

Lord Mayor and Patron of the Award, Alison Gilliland remarked:

With its themes of colonisation and immigration, The Art of Losing, which follows three generations of an Algerian family from the 1950s to the present day, highlights how literature can increase our understanding of the world.

Voting is currently underway to find our nominee for the 2023 Award, and I look forward to letting you know who Victorian public librarians have voted for.

Kind regards,

Bronwyn Gregory for the Library Sector Engagement Team, State Library Victoria
