The Community Learning and Service Centre Department is currently seeking to fill the position of Library Collections Technician. This position is part of our Collection Services team, which oversees the management and curation of the library's physical and digital resources, and the software systems required to effectively monitor and maintain them. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of the library management system SirsiDynix Symphony to provide technical support for the collection services team, assist with strategic planning of the library’s collections, and to provide on-site training and support to the customer service team.

What you’ll be working on

Manage customer requests and high-demand items
Create and maintain MARC records
Collection maintenance
Processing of new materials
Customer Service:
Deliver customer-focused, accurate, and timely information/resolutions in easy-to-understand terms via telephone, face-to-face, and online inquiries.
Undertake rostered and relief customer service duties, including evening and weekend work at any Hobsons Bay service centre, library, community hub, call centre, or outreach location
Other duties as directed that are within the skills, knowledge, and expectation requirements of the position.

What you need to succeed

Strong proficiency in the library management software tool SirsiDynix Symphony
The ability to effectively communicate with community members
Proven ability to work as an effective member of a team, including the ability to develop and input into team processes
