Would your library like to host a Virtual Writer in Residence?

In November this year, the Melbourne City of Literature office will be hosting its second group of virtual writers in residence across our City of Literature and is now open for EOI from organisations/ groups looking to be one of their Hosts!

The City of Literature Office will coordinate the callout and pay all the fees. The successful writer will be commissioned to do three of the following for your organisation:

  • a workshop
  • a written piece
  • an appearance/ panel
  • a social media takeover.

They will pitch what they want to do as part of their application and, of course, which organisation they want to be writer in residence with. This will hopefully mean that many, many writers from all around the world will have a look at your organisation.

Among the residencies hosted last year, Writers Victoria had Nottingham writer Jo Weston in-residence who ran a seminar on chapbooks, did a reading at a poetry event in conjunction with Yarra Plenty Regional Library, and wrote about accessibility post-lockdown; while F Project in Warnumbul had Nottingham Poet Leanne Moden conduct an online workshop, do a crossover panel between Nottingham and Warnumbul and wrote a Ekphrastic poem.

If your library is interested, go here for full details and how to apply.

EOIS close Monday 11 July 9pm.
