Position Title: Online Engagement Librarian, Reference number: 13467

Permanent Full-Time Position, 35 Hours Per Week, Band LIB5 $74,423.63 – $86,408.27 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation.

About the Role

The Opportunity

Playing a key role in online engagement with the community, you will ensure that Council has a connected community with access to information, learning and leisure in a socially-inclusive environment. Based primarily in the Sam Merrifield Library (Moonee Ponds), you will be responsible for overseeing and authoring the content of the library’s website and catalogue, as well as providing support in the creation of print and online communications collateral across the library service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a strong customer-focused approach in all aspects of service delivery;
  • Coordinate and publish all library related content for the website and Council’s events calendar;
  • Manage the Libraries and Learning social media online presence, developing and publishing content within Council guidelines;
  • Develop approaches to engage with library members through the online presence; and,
  • Demonstrate leadership and a team approach to staff to ensure efficient operation of the library.

Skills & Experience

  • An under-graduate or post-graduate library and information science qualification acceptable for Associate membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) together with relevant experience in the provision and promotion of public library services;
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills together with experience in delivering technology and online services within a public library setting;
  • Excellent understanding of the online environment including web authoring skills and the development of online content;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead staff and work well as part of a team, with excellent decision making and problem-solving skills; and,
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check.

Moonee Valley Libraries

Position Title: Library Collections Support Officer, Reference number: 13399

Permanent Part-Time Position, 14 Hours Per Week, Band LIB3 $34.17 – $37.65 per hour plus 9.5% superannuation.

Closing date:11:45pm, Wednesday 20 January 2021

About the Role

The Opportunity

As part of our Libraries and Learning team, you will be based primarily at the Niddrie branch and assist the Library Administration team with daily routine tasks required for swift circulation of incoming and outgoing library resources. You will also be responsible for providing excellent service to the users of Moonee Valley City Council across all libraries as required. Shifts are rostered in short blocks, every morning, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, pack and unpack library items for transfer between libraries;
  • Provide prompt, accurate, courteous and consistent customer service to ensure a positive experience for customers;
  • Undertake library tasks as required including placing reservations, joining new members, discussing and assisting with room, equipment and event bookings, issuing and returning loans, placing reservations, collecting fees and charges and shelving materials; and,
  • Assist customers in the use of equipment and technology such as computers, photocopiers, wireless internet access, online resources, library apps, eBooks and mobile devices.

Skills & Experience

  • Satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent is essential with customer service experience, commensurate with the requirements of work required of this position;
  • Understanding of the role of public libraries within the community;
  • Proficiency in the operation of relevant equipment and technology with the ability to troubleshoot computer and mobile technologies available to the public;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to resolve minor problems with clients and members of the public; and,
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check.
