Sidiqa Faqihi, Project Officer of the Community Engagement Program at the Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA), is reaching out to explore the possibility of collaborating with libraries during Refugee Week, 15 – 21 June 2025. Refugee Week provides a unique opportunity to celebrate the contributions of refugees and the diversity they bring in the community.
The theme for Refugee Week 2025 is Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community. You can download a printable poster here.
The RCOA is particularly interested in working with libraries to promote Refugee Week through the following initiatives:
Sharing Information in Your Newsletter:
RCOA proposes including a short piece in your upcoming newsletter to introduce Refugee Week 2025. This could highlight its purpose, the theme for 2025, and the resources available to libraries, such as editable templates and teacher resource kits. Possible content is available here.
Hosting Refugee Speaker Presentations:
Sidiqa invites you to book a refugee speaker presentation through the Refugee Stories for Change program during Refugee Week. This initiative offers speakers from refugee backgrounds the opportunity to share their lived experiences and journeys to Australia. Additional information about the program and booking links available here.
Registering Your Events on the RCOA Calendar:
RCOA invites you to register you upcoming events for Refugee Week 2025 to get more people attending the celebration: Refugee Week Events Calendar – Refugee Council of Australia.
Sidiqa would be delighted to discuss how your library could participate in Refugee Week 2025, whether by featuring information in your communications, hosting an event, or another creative initiative.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Sidiqa if you have any questions or need further information on [email protected]
She looks forward to hearing from you and exploring the ways we can work together to make Refugee Week 2025 a meaningful and impactful celebration.
