About the Role

What you’ll deliver

• Perform daily housekeeping, regularly checking hold alerts and shelving tasks as rostered and directed
• Contribute to the success of Library Services through active teamwork and effective performance of responsibilities and duties of this position
• An improvement focus, willingness to learn and a desire to develop your skills
• Supporting the delivery and development of existing plus new and improved library programs for the community
• Promotion of the programs, services and the collections of the library and library service

What you’ll bring

• Ability to deliver early years to adult level programs
• Experience working in public libraries
• An understanding of how library collections work
• Proficient in Library Management System functions
• Understanding of the Library and Community Learning goals within the broader organisational context
• Diploma of Library and Information Services, or equivalent qualification
• Strong customer service skills
• A positive, curious and flexible attitude

The Library Programs and Support Officer position is a fantastic opportunity to join the Werribee Library, located right in the heart of central Werribee alongside our Wyndham Cultural Centre. You will be providing high quality customer service and information support to our library patrons and delivering quality programs and activities for all ages.

You will report to the Library Coordinator at Werribee Library and be responsible for providing the exceptional customer service that our patrons know and expect. In addition, you will support all areas and deliver a range of programs to all age groups, from pre-school story times, code club for young people, and language café for adults. You will also be responsible for guiding other team members as the desk Team Leader, supporting the Library team in maintaining the branch’s collections. There are also opportunities to contribute to branch project work.

You will be a positive, enthusiastic and engaged customer focused person, instrumental in providing friendly customer service and delivering targeted activities to enrich the lives of community members and enhance social connection. You enjoy a challenge, a busy environment and working on multiple things, you thrive on multitasking and thinking ahead and being proactive.

This role is very diverse, and you will be able to gain skills and knowledge in many different areas within the library. This opportunity is perfect for someone who enjoys variety in their work, or who is wishing to see what area of Librarianship they may choose to specialise in, and the perfect steppingstone for someone who has completed their library technician qualification or commenced their librarianship qualification.

This role is required to work an evening and a rostered Saturday morning as part of a regular work pattern, ad-hoc adjustments to your work pattern may be required for events or programs. This position may be required to rotate to other branches in line with operational requirements.
