About the Role

The Opportunity

Moonee Valley Libraries provides an exceptional service to all community members through the promotion of lifelong learning and the provision of online services.

We currently have an employment opportunity for Librarian Technicians who are confident and engaging story time presenters to support our weekend programming. Working as part of a professional and friendly team, you will provide high quality customer service and collection support, including Library Service to the community of Moonee Valley City Council.

Candidates must have prior experience delivering these programs, or have demonstrated the skills required to work well with young children and their parents.

The successful applicant will be required to work at any of the five libraries in the municipality, including weekday and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

When acting as a customer service shift supervisor, demonstrate leadership and a team approach to staff to ensure efficient operation of the library.
Conduct story time sessions for babies, toddlers and pre-school children in the library and assist with other activities.
Provide excellent customer service through floor walking and active engagement with customers.
Provide customer service assistance in the use of technology including computers, photocopiers, wireless internet access, internet and online databases.

Skills & Experience

In order to be successful for this position, you will ideally possess the following skills and attributes:

A qualification acceptable for professional membership (technician) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA);
Library management systems skills together with the ability to troubleshoot computer and mobile technologies available to the public;
Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to relate well to a diverse range of people; and,
Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check
