The Opportunity:

Hume Libraries is currently seeking applications from qualified Librarians to join our Broadmeadows Library team on a temporary part-time basis. You will be positive, energetic and a quick learner, able to work well within a team environment and engage with the community and stakeholders.

The Broadmeadows Library is situated within the Hume Global Learning Centre-Broadmeadows. We offer a large range of library collections, resources, programs, outreach and more.

This is a part-time position contracted until 30 September 2026. The roster for this role is Thursdays 12:30pm-8.15pm and Fridays 9:15am-5pm. You may also be offered additional hours as per operational needs and overtime hours on weekends.

Position Objectives:

You will be responsible for contributing to the provision of high-quality library collections and services that meet the educational, recreational and information needs of the diverse Hume community by delivering accessible, relevant and innovative resources and a high standard of customer service. You will also support the facilitation of learning, participate in collection development, and plan, develop and deliver library programs and as directed by the Team Leader Broadmeadows Library.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Graduate Diploma in Information Management or equivalent, facilitating eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in electronic and print based information resources.
Demonstrated ability to plan, develop and deliver programs
Demonstrated ability to convey computer and library literacy to the community.
Ability to develop working relationships with staff and work together in a team environment.
Ability to understand current and future trends in libraries and the impact on communities.

This is a job-share role with a focus on managing and promoting collections within the branch, and includes direct customer service in a dynamic public library environment.
