The roster is 17.5 hours over three days per week including one evening shift: Tuesday and Wednesday 10am – 5pm (each with a 45 minute break) and Thursday 5pm – 10pm.

4A $75,252.28 per annum pro rata – $41.3474 per hour

About the Role

Hume Libraries is currently recruiting for a permanent part-time Library Technician based in the Broadmeadows Library team. You will contribute to the provision of high-quality library services that meet the educational, recreational and information needs of the diverse Hume community by providing a high level of customer service and assisting in the maintenance of the library collections.

What you'll be doing:
Undertake regular customer service duties
Actively promote Hume library resources and programs to the community
Assist the Hume Libraries programs team to plan, deliver, facilitate and evaluate a range of programs across Hume Libraries as required
Actively contribute to localised collection maintenance, including reallocating and withdrawing materials
More specifically, one current focus of this role is assisting with the selection and preparation of items for some of our Home Delivery Service clients. This role also assists with programs being held for Libraries After Dark.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
You have a Diploma of Library / Information Services (Library Technician) or equivalent post-secondary qualification and experience in a Public Library or a similar environment.
Experience in providing reference and information services
Excellent computer skills
Demonstrated ability to plan and/or facilitate programs in a library setting
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use electronic and print-based information resources
Demonstrated knowledge of books and literature in general
Excellent customer service skills
Cash handling and reconciliation processes
