Position Title: Manager, Community Learning and Service Centres

Fixed Term – 5 year contract, Full time, Circa $170k total remuneration package

About the Role

Situated on Port Phillip Bay around 7km west of central Melbourne, Hobsons Bay is an established municipality with over 20kms of coastline, a rich natural environment, a diverse community and local economy including a growing number of manufacturing, transport and goods distribution companies and service industries. The city is superbly located, with great access to key transport facilities.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, you will be responsible for planning for and effectively managing the ongoing development of contemporary customer focused libraries, community hubs and service centres to meet the changing needs of the Hobsons Bay community.

The successful candidate will be tasked with identifying, planning and determining a future focused strategic direction and operation for this newly formed Department which intends to optimise resource allocation to maximise community benefit and learning for the Hobsons Bay community.

The Manager is responsible for driving initiatives that enhance the quality, effectiveness, responsiveness and efficiency of Council’s community service provision in Hobsons Bay.  The successful candidate will make a strong contribution to local economic, social, cultural and environmental outcomes through enhancing our Library offering and extending accessibility and effectiveness of Council’s face to face service provision.

A key member of Council’s Senior Leadership Team, the successful applicant will work strategically and in partnership across the organisation to cultivate a customer focused culture, and create an environment in which products, processes and services are designed to optimise our customer experience. You will be self-motivated and have a demonstrated record of achievement in strategic, innovation and people leadership.

The successful candidate will bring appropriate tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in middle or senior leadership roles, managing multidisciplinary teams and providing strategic planning and direction. A proven ability to problem solve; be creative; innovative and flexible; and drive positive change will be critical to success in this position.
