  • Friday 10am – 6pm
  • Rostered weekends – 1 Saturday in every 4 weeks and 1 Sunday in every 8 weeks
Band 5 $81,309 – $94,557 per year (pro rata)

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Children and Youth Team Leader to deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality library services for children, young people and families in Cranbourne Library. This role is ideal for someone with a strong commitment to Children and Youth Librarianship, an understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and experience developing dynamic collections and programs.

As a leader, you will demonstrate the ability to lead, inspire and motivate staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.

About us

Connected Libraries are in the City of Casey which is one of Victoria’s largest, fastest growing and most diverse municipalities. We operate five Libraries, a Library Lounge located in Cranbourne West and three sets of 24/7 library lockers. We have an additional Library Lounge service opening in Clyde Township early 2026. We deliver services for the more than 400,000 residents who call Casey home.

About the Role

As Children & Youth Team Leader you will play a key role in developing and delivering our new library plan objectives, related to children and youth services.

Your leadership will inspire and motivate your team at Cranbourne Library to develop and deliver programs focused on literacy, STEAM, learning and creativity – for toddlers through to young people.

In addition to specialising in children and youth, you will also provide an exceptional customer experience on the library floor, supporting our community’s diverse needs.

You will actively promote and deliver children and youth services to the community outside the walls of the library, whilst building strong relationships with key stakeholders including Cranbourne Youth Centre, Community Centres, and local Kindergartens and Schools.

In conjunction with Children, Youth and Outreach Manager ensure children’s and youth collection meets the needs of the local community, is relevant and in good condition.

You will act as a support to the Cranbourne Library Manager and to the Cranbourne Library team.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Library qualifications conferring eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association OR Lesser formal qualifications with relevant work skills and experience commensurate with the requirements of the work required
  • High level customer service skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with all ages, across all levels of the community
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet organisational strategic outcomes
  • Knowledge of collection management processes
  • Proven experience investigating and developing effective and efficient Children and Youth programs within either the library sector or teaching.
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and motivate staff within a team environment
  • Time management, organisational and planning ability
  • Relevant experience in a public library environment is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering programs to 0 to 18 years
  • Knowledge of children’s literature, language and literacy development
  • Driver’s licence essential
  • Working with Children Check
