We are a dynamic public library service in the West with over two million visits each year. The libraries are based at Sunshine, St Albans, Deer Park, Sydenham and Keilor.

About the job

This role requires an energetic, and versatile person with excellent attention to detail, a passion for libraries and a desire to help shape the future of Brimbank Libraries. At the core of this role is personnel management, including staffing allocations, rosters, budget, and library occupational health and safety. Working with library staff, internal and external stakeholders the role will oversee the development of library services for enhancing customer experience and engagement.
As a key member of the Senior Library Leadership team the role is responsible for providing mentoring and coordination of staff skill development to create a positive team culture and a future focussed workforce.
This role requires strong leadership experience in public libraries, demonstrated effective communication, financial management and an understanding of Council governance, personnel and risk management processes.

About you

With a genuine passion for library services, you will be committed to continuous improvement and positive leadership, you will foster an environment where new innovations, services and strategies will genuinely make a difference to the lives of Brimbank’s diverse and multicultural community, workers and visitors. With tertiary qualifications in library services, information management or similar relevant area, you will be committed to working closely with Team Leaders across Library sites to foster a community first culture and drive accountability by coaching, mentoring and empowering direct reports.
As part of the Libraries Unit you will be required to deliver direct customer service at all service points as rostered across opening hours, including weekends and evenings.
All successful candidates must have a working with Children Check and undertake a Police check.
