Lively is a unique not-for-profi t that’s revolutionising aged care through intergenerational connection. Their programs pair older community members with enthusiastic, big-hearted young Helpers (18-25) who bring joy, companionship, and practical assistance into their lives.

Lively’s Community Tech Help program helps to bridge the digital divide through personalised tech education for older adults delivered by friendly young people.

As digital literacy becomes an increasingly essential skill to participate in the community, library and community centre staff often find themselves stretched to meet the local demand for tech support from older residents. Lively’s intergenerational model creates a welcoming, supportive environment where participants can embrace technology at their own pace, whether it’s mastering a video call or sending their first email.

Lively’s programs align with funding priorities for community engagement and accessible lifelong learning, especially by accommodating seniors from CALD backgrounds with support in their language where possible. They can demonstrate clear, measurable outcomes in digital literacy and social connection through their impact collection and reporting which assists your team to report on impact and secure ongoing funding.

Lively has been delivering tech help programs funded through Be Connected grants since 2018 and have helped several libraries to successfully apply for funding. See the Lively Info Pack for further information.

Lively Tech Helpers are trained to help learners to recognise and avoid cyber threats. By increasing IT security awareness, they help protect vulnerable community members from scams and fraud, allowing them to feel safe, secure and confi dent online. This not only enhances individual security but also brings peace of mind to their families and reduces the potential burden on local support services dealing with cybercrime aftermath.

Lively have been delivering tech help to seniors since 2016 across Melbourne metro and surrounds in libraries, community centres and retirement villages. They’d love to see their intergenerational tech help in as many Melbourne libraries as possible on an on-going basis to help bridge the digital divide and make intergenerational connections and learning the norm.
