Between the 6-19 March 2023, Darebin Libraries is hosting DISCOVER, a celebration of all the goodness our libraries offer!

The showcase launch is on Tuesday 7 March at the Reservoir Community and Learning Centre. Gelato and music from 5.30pm, with formal proceedings beginning at 6pm with a Welcome to Country from a Wurundjeri Elder. We’d love to see you there!

This specially curated program showcases over 90 events and information sessions offers opportunities for lifelong learning, digital support, social connection and employment support.

There are events aimed at children, youth and seniors. Others aimed at readers or listeners. We have information sessions for those new to public libraries or who would like to learn more, and sessions for anyone who keen to collaborate with us and connect on common ground.

There’s even a mini CALD film festival (with sweet treats from local businesses), along with author talks, creative workshop, early years literacy programming and so much more!

The DISCOVER showcase aims to:

  • reengage community members we haven’t seen since the pandemic began
  • engage current visitors with the breadth of other opportunities we offer
  • connect with community members who have never used our libraries, particularly those at risk of exclusion

And, we aim to further promote our fines amnesty, by sharing the news: “Discover something new and we’ll wipe your fines”. So far, over 1,000 people have benefited from this initiative, with many more excited that new fines are not accruing.

Visit the DISCOVER webpage to see the entire program of events.
