Are you passionate about the role of reading in libraries and relish the opportunity to join with colleagues from around the world to explore this topic? Why not join us at the Sustainable Reading at Every Age & Every Stage: Libraries Beside You All The Way event, Fri 27 – Sun 29 September, in Brisbane!
Developed to complement the IFLA Futures Summit this three-day event will explore research and effective practices for sustaining readers across the lifespan, with a special focus on the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will come away with new ideas for engaging readers of all ages in sustainability practices through a variety of formats. Topics include early literacy, school-age programs, teen readers, citizen science, reading in the digital age, graphic novels, and misinformation.
The program begins on Friday 27 September with an afternoon visit to Ipswich Children’s Library – the only dedicated children’s public library in Australia.
The one-and-a-half-day program on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 will feature a range of Australian and International speakers and topics will include:
- The World through picture books
- Graphic Medicine – using comics as a tool for health literacy at all ages and stages
- Immersive stories in the school library
- Libraries driving education for sustainable development
- Public and school libraries driving collaborative relationships
- Initiatives supporting reading and wellbeing
