Architecture, Au, the magazine of the Australian Institute of Architects, recently published an article singing the praises of public libraries.

The article, entitled Pursuit of knowledge: Five libraries diversity the learning experience, includes Boronggook Drysdale Library and Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library and community hub–both part of Geelong Regional Library Corporation–as examples of innovative design.

While some argue that libraries have become obsolete in today’s digital era, these innovative projects illustrate the contrary: that libraries are not only vital, but are evolving.

The practices behind these projects have transformed libraries from simple book repositories into dynamic community centres that promote learning, communication and collaboration.
