Brimbank Writers Festival 2025 logo

20th Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival runs from 13-22 March 2025 and is packed with a varied program for all ages and as usual, free but bookings are essential.

The full program is here.  To kick off the festival we have the amazing Kate Ceberano, as she chats with Paul Bateman about her memoir, Unsung, sharing stories, song lyrics, and artwork from her 40-year music career.

  • Brimbank local Michelle Bourke’s journey with a cardboard cut-out of her late husband
  • LGBTQIA+ author Holden Sheppard in conversation with Stephen Russell
  • Maxine Beneba Clarke and Alice Pung OAM talking about storytelling and identity

Food lovers can dive into The Art of Food with Saskia Ericson and Alice Oehr, or join Meatballs Around the World for a Harmony Day celebration.

Families will love Mitch Tambo’s performance from his upcoming kids’ album, blending music with cultural celebration. Plus, catch a screening of The Last Daughter, a moving film about family and heritage.

There’s something for everyone: writing workshops with Dr. Lili Wilkinson and Alex Miles, comedy writing with Samuel Gebreselassie, and digital illustration sessions with Alyssa Smedley and Peter McDonald.
